DreamWorks Animation Seeks Sr. Software Engineer – Maya
Location: Glendale, CA
The Maya lead is responsible for leading a small team of Maya Specialists in building and enhancing proprietary Animation, FX and Modeling tools built employing Alias's Maya software. Candidate will interface directly with Production artists and leads in the above mentioned departments, collect requirements, architect solutions, and guide the other members of the team to implement tools and libraries to meet production needs. Candidates for this position must have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Strong listening skills a must.
Qualifications:
- Expert in C/C++
- Expert in the use of both the Maya API and Mel in creating production tools and workflow enhancements
- 5+ years of CG development experience (at least 2 of which are using the Maya API)
- Experience leading development teams.
Education:
- MS in CS or Mathematics

DreamWorks Animation is hiring Effects Animators and Developers to join our creative team.
Location: Glendale, CA
FX Animators:
3+ years of shot production experience involving simulations of natural phenomena, particle systems, procedural modeling, procedural animation, hard and soft body dynamics, and other similar effects. Must have strong visual and technical skills and be able to work collaboratively in a high-end proprietary software environment. UNIX proficiency and strong scripting skills are required. Background in programming, preferably in C or C++, is a plus. Requires a reel of work that demonstrates at least one year of professional effects shots experience.
FX Developers:
3+ years working on technical solutions to FX challenges driven by the creative needs of production. For example, developing systems for fire, crowds/flocking, complex foliage, or simulating/rendering fluids. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, writing scripts and/or C programs to create shaders, procedural textures, and procedural models. Must be interested in working on the production team and be open to shot work, using the systems that one develops. Experience with one or more of the following is required: writing shaders; Maya API Development; MEL, C, C++ development. Requires a reel of work for review

Summary:
This is an entry-level position who supports Technical Directors to ensure smooth operation and fulfillment of a production’s technical needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Monitors and assists in resource management. Areas include:
o Data archive and backup
o Disk space
o Production revision control
o Render farm process and usage
o Software testing
• Provides support and development of tools and procedures, which extend and
enhance the production pipeline.
• Will support other Technical Directors with troubleshooting, development, and
documentation, as the Department Technical Director Supervisor determines the
need.
• Adheres to pre-established studio standards.
• Attend weekly TD meetings as determined by the Department TD Supervisor.
Requirements and Experience:
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science.
• Strong math and programming skills.
• Experience with the Unix environment. Linux experience a plus.
• Experience with Perl and shell scripting (csh/tcsh).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to take direction and pay close attention to detail.
• Willingness to work in a team environment. Must have a positive attitude.
