A PixelBox Academy tem o prazer de convidar todos os interessados a comparecer nas conference talks providenciadas pelo Khronos Group, a ter lugar na próxima Quarta-Feira, Quinta-Feira e Sexta-Feira na Universidade Independente (Av. “Softimage|XSI games and special effect content creation software”
Orador: Luc Bolduc
Luc Bolduc is a Software Developer at Softimage R&D, and lead developer for Crosswalk—an XSI toolset that provides bi-directional interoperability in mixed-software pipelines, and includes COLLADA support. Luc has over a decade of experience in the 3D industry, during which he’s held positions at leading games companies, and has been instrumental in the development of numerous Softimage pipeline and file transfer tools.

Conference Talk e Press Conference – “Khronos Overview”
Orador: Neil Trevett
President Khronos Group, Vice President Embedded Content NVIDIA
Neil Trevett orgulha-se de apresentar em Portugal o roadmap do Khronos Group. Durante a sessão de duas horas, Neil Trevett irá descrever o passado do Khronos Group, o porquê da sua criação, a passagem do OpenGL ARB para o Khronos Group assim como acerca dos standards actualmente sob a alçada do Khronos Group. Neil Trevett irá ainda falar acerca dos progressos com o OpenKode, o standard de desenvolvimento de aplicações móveis criado pelo Khronos Group.
Neil Trevett joined NVIDIA in May of 2005. As Vice President of Embedded Content, he is responsible for enabling and encouraging compelling applications on non-PC platforms, including cell phones and automobiles. Prior to joining NVIDIA, Mr. Trevett has spent over twenty years in the 3D graphics industry including Vice President positions at 3Dlabs. Mr. Trevett is currently the elected President of the Khronos Group where Mr. Trevett created and chairs the OpenGL ES working group that has defined the industry standard for 3D graphics on embedded devices. Mr. Trevett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering from the University of Birmingham in the UK.
About the Khronos Group:
The Khronos Group was founded in January 2000 by a number of leading media-centric companies, including 3Dlabs, ATI, Discreet, Evans & Sutherland, Intel, NVIDIA, SGI and Sun Microsystems, dedicated to creating open standard APIs to enable the authoring and playback of rich media on a wide variety of platforms and devices.
Khronos Today
The Khronos Group is a member-funded industry consortium focused on the creation of open standard APIs to enable the authoring and playback of dynamic media on a wide variety of platforms and devices. All Khronos members are able to contribute to the development of Khronos API specifications, are empowered to vote at various stages before public deployment, and are able to accelerate the delivery of their cutting-edge 3D platforms and applications through early access to specification drafts and conformance tests.

Sr. R&D Software Engineer at Sony Computer Entertainment America
Greg Corson vai apresentar à audiência o formato de asset-interchange COLLADA que é parte integrante da API gráfica da Playstation 3.
Greg Corson is a R&D Software Engineer working on advanced applications and technologies for Sony Computer Entertainment. Currently he is working on distributed and on-line technologies for Playstation 3 and in the past he have done work with Playstation 2.

“Mobile I/O”
Orador: Dr. Kari Pulli
Dr. Kari Pulli is a lead developer of mobile computing graphics technologies such as OpenGL ES, M3G, and Open VG. He is a Research Fellow at Nokia Research Center in Palo Alto where he heads a research team. During 2004-2006 he was Visiting Scientist with the Computer Graphics Group at MIT. Dr. Pulli gave recent courses on OpenGL ES and M3G at SIGGRAPH 2005 and Eurographics 2006.
Abstract
Mobile devices are the new frontier in computation, internet connectivity, imaging, and computer graphics. For many people it provides their first computer of any kind. For example in China there are about 100 million PCs but over 400 million mobile phones. And the sales of camera phones far surpass the number of digital or any other types of consumer cameras.
The visual capabilities of these devices have progressed at amazing pace, and today the high-end smart phones have large color screens, fast CPUs, even dedicated graphics HW acceleration. We will cover the short history of mobile 3D graphics, and introduce recent mobile graphics standards such as OpenGL ES, M3G, and OpenVG; these provide visual output. In recent years photography and graphics have begun to move closer to each other, we will also briefly discuss computational and contextual photography and augmented reality as fertile research topics; these provide visual input. |
