O concurso tem como objectivo cativar programadores e cg artists para a embrionarias capacidades 3d dos telemoveis
Dear Developers,
I am writing to inform you of the International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA) a contest that is designed to recognise and reward excellence in mobile game development. As one of the important developers in mobile entertainment, we would like to see you represented in these awards.
Recent research published by media research group, Screen Digest, suggests that by 2010, there will be a global installed base of more than 2 billion games-enabled mobile handsets and the worldwide games download market will be worth US$6.4b.
3D capable handsets have hit the market in the second half of last year and the deployment of a number of multiplayer and community games that add connectivity to games are just a few of the exciting recent developments. Flash is also on the horizon, which may lower barriers to entry and help to resolve fragmentation problems.
So there has never been a better time to get involved!
If you would like to take part, visit the online portal for the competition at www.imgawards.com, fill in the entry form and submit your idea. At this stage you don’t need to worry about having demonstrable code, just make sure that you explain your idea in as much detail as possible and add at least three visuals. Of course any other accompanying materials, such as demo’s, videos, storyboards, you can provide will help the judges visualise your idea.
The deadline for entries is September 11 2006.
After this date, a panel of judges will meet and will shortlist the best 20 ideas.
The 20 finalists will then have until the 26th of January to build a demonstrable version of the game. It need not be a whole game, but a demo that you feel communicates the strengths of your title. Five awards will be given out: Excellence in 3D, Best Use of Connectivity, Best Interactive Experience, Most Innovative Game and of course the “IMGA Grand Prix” for the overall winner who will take away a cash prize of $15,000.
We hope that you will take part in the International Mobile Gaming Awards, and that you help us drive this exciting new category of mobile games into the hearts and minds of consumers as well as into the ecosystem of companies committed to bringing the supporting technologies to market.
